Internet not working
Have had your service for almost a month, payment is do next week, but the Internet turned off. Fix it.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I spent 6 days calling all over the planet, talking to female staff in Mumbai and Hyderabad, Inidia before problem was solved by about a 2 hour call from Durban South, Africa. No special offers or compensation offered other than "I'm sorry for your problems."

I have been with the company for 30 some odd years. They have been reasonably good.
At least, as opposed to g-mail, there is someone to talk with.
All of a sudden advertisements started to appear on my e-mails. I called and they want an additional amount of money on my monthly bill to remove the ads from my account.
What next?
Inconsistent Communication and reconnect
I recently unemployed and had to let service go off. Communicated unemployment to Earthlink.
They were great at communicating pay the money.
When able three weeks later to pay dues and RECONNECT fee, reconnect has not happened three days later despite two attempts to contact via chat, long wait on queue. Preparing to lodge complaint with FTC and schedule them to take line off house.

When I relocated to my current address on April 8, 2024, I learned that my home internet service provider, Verizon, did not provide service in my new area of residence. I was forced to find another provider. I searched extensively, but the only provider I found in my area that serviced residents was EarthLink. I then ordered service from EarthLink. The service began on April 11, 2024, when their router arrived. I was left to set everything up so I would have internet. Thus began a story of disappointment.
EarthLink ensures that customers can contact them via phone; email addresses to EarthLink all turned out to be unresponsive to incoming emails. Calling was a problem. Sometimes, I would be asked to leave a number for a return call, but that did not guarantee that I would get one. Many times, I would call and be left waiting for a significant length of time, only to have the connection drop. I discovered that I could not plug my landline phone in without ending the internet service, so I stopped using it. However, there were technical problems, but more than once, the complete lack of common courtesy left me feeling that I was dealing with the worst service ever.
I also noticed that I received frequent messages that I had consumed half of my data allowance and needed to add to it. I did that frequently, but even when I was towards the end of my monthly service, those messages kept coming at such a frequency that I was wondering if I had signed up for the wrong service plan.
I saw an article about how EarthLink offered a streaming plan called EarthLink TV, so I called Customer Service to ask about it. An agent said she would investigate and call me back -- but of course, to this date, I have not received any such call. I saw how much the service was costing me, so I sent a letter via USPS Certified Mail stating that I was terminating my service with EarthLink due to its unsatisfactory quality. To date, June 12, 2024, I was notified that EarthLink charged me for another month! I have no intention of maintaining such a poor quality service with such rude, inconsiderate staff as I discovered from EarthLink.
I would have emailed my intention to end the service, but EarthLink hides from its customers, so sending the letter was my only option because if I called, I would have ended up arguing with the disagreeable staff.
I am attaching:
1) My letter terminating service dated May 21, 2024
2) The charge that EarthLink made to my account after my termination date
3) Text messages received from EarthLink today (June 12, 2024) about the charge
4) Notice of the start of service on April 12, 2024
I have lived on both sides of the ocean, and EarthLink ranks at the very bottom of the list!

I realized that EarthLink increased the price for my webmail-only account I've had for 23 years. I've never had dial-up since 9/11 when I lived in New York, and yet was charged a ridiculous price to keep my email address.
I finally contacted upper management several years ago about it, and he credited my account and said I would only be charged 6.95 perpetually for the account since I only use it for webmail and to keep my email addresses I'd had for ages. Well, they increased it to $9.95 around six months ago, and because it was on autopay, I never noticed. I contacted them today, and they not only refused to credit me but also want me to pay 9.95 per month for November and this month. I informed them about what I know is in my file, but Precious told me that her supervisor said they would not credit me, even knowing it was done before and what I was promised.
There are plenty of free services, and I'll have to start using them because they are out of their minds. They offered me $4.95 for a year, but they can keep it.
They know their mistake but are willing to let a 23-year customer leave rather than do the right thing. I'll be writing to the CEO as well about this issue.

Error
i was trying to get to someone because could not get into my e-mail waited on the phone on hold for almost a half hour and then they hung up on me. I am not very happy over this still do not know if I was being hacked or earthlink was experiencing a problem.
Scam artist
Avoid this company all together. I pay 99 a month which they raised my rate btw for me to be completely out of data in 2...
2 days! It's only me a my daughter and she has a TV and I have one. Nothing special nor fancy. Out of data in 2 days!!
They also start my data over the day before my bill is due so tell me how that works. I'm getting ready to cancel and I'm not paying g that ridiculous cancelation fee for you scamming me. I've paid 300 hundred dollars for basically 5 to 6 days worth of data total. Nope!
Yall are scamming people and should be shut down!! Awful internet service and customer service speaks NO ENGLISH.
I went through 3 representatives last time before I got somebody who could understand me and I understand them. Save your time and money stay away from earth link!!!

I suddenly got locked out of one of my accounts. It took three texts to Customer Service to get someone from some country somewhere to tell me that once a password has been locked, you have to change it.
There was no explanation of why it would be locked and why EarthLink feels it has the right to do that. I've found that the corporate phone numbers listed on the EarthLink website and internet are phony.
They do not connect to anyone. For the most part, I have no complaints about the email service itself.

Preferred solution: My password unlocked. Sure, I can make a new password, but I should not have been locked out in the first place.

I had ordered internet from these from these scammers I paid $79 they told me that was all I had to pay until the next billing cycle so I had to wait for a modem to come to me by mail a week later I got the modem I had to call them to to activate it once I called them they wanted an additional $100 I told them no I require an immediate refund they said we were process to refund a week later I'm checking my books there was no refund I called them back they said we do not give refunds week this is a restocking fee or some garbage which is not on my invoice no no mention of any of this and here they have the gall to send you a return label immediately for their modem and they actually think that's going to happen that won't happen until they pay return my $79 I'll burn that sucker before I'll ever give them the modem back until I get that $79 because these were the most blatant frauds I have ever dealt with out of all the reviews I've ever posted these people took the cake then somebody calls me from their Department saying they're going to give me the refund but they couldn't put it on that particular card now they got my bank card information and now I call back because I didn't get nothing on that card and they told me again we don't get so in other words written me off more than once now they got my bank card and I have a lock on it man do not ever use these people I'll be on their helmet to the day I die that's how it's going to be when I get ripped off that blatantly I'm not ever going to give up

This has been my worst experience ever with internet service, from the agents, managers to executives; all are unprofessional and not well educated on the Internet services they provide. It has been a nightmare; all agents give different information and never know what's going on when you call because most don't leave the proper notes.
My issue has been going on for 8 months now.
I have to go through the process of transferring services. I will not recommend EarthLink to anyone!

From the beginning of starting Internet with EarthLink, the service has been slow, we barely start using data and were slowed down because weve hit high data. Getting in touch with customer support is absolutely impossible due to high wait times. I finally got in touch with a rep only to get disconnected.

I've had EarthLink for a few months and their customer support and service are not good. Customer support, even in the aftermath of a hurricane, is not helpful and will tell you that you have an extension to pay, then turn around and turn off the service without a cancellation notice or anything.
They have terminated my service twice, just a day or two past the due date, after telling me I had an extension. Now my internet has been down for two days. The support line says 24/7, yet I've yet to get anyone on the line. Their app keeps rejecting the verification codes sent.
Yet again, the 24/7 support line says they are closed.
This company is ridiculous! I'm so disappointed!

They billed me after the installer insulted me. I had already paid for installation! The only reason I got whole house internet was because I wanted a real keyboard.
