Earthlink is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. In the first ten days of internet service, I was out for five full days. Every time I called Earthlink customer service I spent at least 30 minutes waiting for a representative. Then it took numerous calls and more than two weeks to have my service fully cancelled. Do not use Earthlink!

They work 24 hours but customers must wait for repair service because it's the holidays. If I do not pay I do not get internet, I pay and still do not have service, despite telling them I work from home. Their response was maybe a service person will be out in 3 days. I have already been waiting 3 days. They apologize and do nothing, I am out of service and out of income and Earthlink do not care.

It is awful experience after I switched to Earthlink internet service. First, their internet service is terrible, always off line. My kids complain it very day. Second, I was told my rate was fixed rate $44.99/m for 12 month contract. There was advertise too when I switched to Earthlink. Then after 3 months the rate was increased to $70.20/m, we did not know it because of auto-pay. After over charged 4 months, I called the company first time December of 2017, they agreed give me credit $75 ($25/m for 3 months) and lowed my bill to $45.20/m, And also I asked the representative I was talking, the rate would be fixed, $45.20/m or not. He told me, YES, it would be fixed for the rest of the months. I thought the bill issue was solved. No, I was wrong. Today I called they about the bill issue, I was told they only extended 3 months previous promotion for me. They denied the offer they offered to me at the begin. Also I was told by the manager of the manager, even they wanted to give me more time of previous promotion, he could not do it due to final manufacturer setting up bill payment. I lost my interest and patient to argue with them. End of this month I will switch internet service company. Move on. If I can give them rate 0, I will do it.

Online came across Earthlink (i heard about Earthlink for years) so i decided to contact them The cst service was really a nice pleasant person to speak with. So i decided to have the 3gb that would fit my needs for 14.99 mos that after the 3rd month it would go to 39.

So ive been with earthstink, I mean earthlink for about 5 months and was told that I will be on a trial for 3 months and that it would go up to $43.00 which is very interesting because ive been getting charged $65.00 for internet which is outrageous when im only getting 7 mbps, worst provider ever. And then I was informed that they locked me in a 12 month contract WHICH I NEVER AGREED TO BTW, I believe the sales rep. added that in there. What I was told was that there would be a month to month basis. And i wait sometimes 20-30 minutes for a movie to load that is very very annoying especially when im paying so much. And oh yeah did I mention the customer service was a D..K AND WASNT HELPFUL AT ALL, THEY SUCK AT SPEAKING WITH CUSTOMERS WHICH IS ALSO INTERESTING BECAUSE I COULVE SWORN WERE PAYING YOUR SALERIES HHMMM??? Now im not letigous but if this issue is not resolved soon I will consult with my attorney! IF I DO NOT GET PLACED ON A MONTH TO MONTH OR RECIEVE A CALL BACK TO RESOLVE THESE CONTINUED ISSUES I WILL PROCEED WITH CONSULTING AN ATTORNEY!

EarthLink - Terrible service

Tried Earthlink Hyperlink for a mere week and it was a bad experience from day 2. First off, the sales rep told me over chat the incorrect installation price and I had to talk to two different representatives to get the quoted price which I was told would be refunded over the span of 3 months. Well they knew what they were doing because the service is absolutely horrible and I will never keep it for the span of three months. I've had it for one week and I'm done. I chatted and called tech support 5 times altogether. I was told I'd get speeds of 12 mbps but really that meant only 80% of that (seriously?), well, I was regularly getting less than 1 mbps. I would call, they would ask me to turn off the modem, restart the computer (eye roll), 'clear' their lines, and the speed would go up to 12 mbps. Immediately after ending the call the speed would be back down to less than 1. This happened twice in one day while only trying to use one device. Imagine a regular day when my husband is streaming Netflix, my daughter is gaming, and I'm listening to Pandora. I called to cancel, the process took 15 mins and I was initially told my monthly charge wouldn't be refunded although she eventually agreed to refund the $32.37. I'm still out the $69.99 install fee for a service I had for about a week and was abysmal the entire time, plus the time dealing with the install and customer service. At no time was the sales rep upfront about the actual speed I would get or that this would be using AT&T DSL lines (which I had tried before and knew was very slow) and gave me misinformation on top of that (I'll never see the refund for the difference in price on the install fee I was quoted). If anyone out there is thinking about using Earthlink--DON'T DO IT!!!

Piece of trash slow internet. Download speeds that can lead to 24 hour downloads and intermittent drops that disconnect you from whatever you are doing at the time(game, netflix, google docs, etc.) This is trash service but I'm trapped into using it because of location. Any attempt to contact the company results in a long ordeal of menu browsing, non-human number pressing, and (if you work hard enough) a customer service rep who essentially tells you to turn your computer on and off and make sure the box is on. It's a trash company ran by trash people and if I had ANY other options, I would take them. To put it simply, I expect earthlink internet services are on par with North Korean internet. Maybe a bit worse. If you have a choice between earthlink and some other company, then trust me, choose the other company.

I had my credit card stolen so my bank cancelled and reissued a card then my son had surgery called to let them know what was going on was told I could pay on the 1st tomorrow had service up until 8/31 at 4 am and they shut me off and told me they had cancelled my service and I should have called them by the 27th I told them I had since they supposedly released my line I have to do a new order and wait 5 to 10 business days to get reconnected . you cant understand anyone and you know they use fake names how do you run a business like this

EarthLink - Customer Service will NOT respond to customer emails

I was without internet service for 5 full days. I spent hours on the phone with technicians over that span and they were unable to fix it. They suggested I have my phone lines checked so a service guy from the phone company came over to check. Nothing was wrong. That's when Earthlink said I needed a new modem, which they sent. Lo and behold, at the beginning of the 6th day, they called me asking to turn my computer on to see if I had internet access. I did. Somehow they figured out what the heck the problem was that should have been figured out on day 1 of no internet access. Good grief. After I replied FOUR times to their invoice email to straighten things out with their erroneous invoice, I gave up and called them today. After sending SIX emails to customer service about sending me the promised prepaid return Fed Ex label for an unneeded modem they said I needed, no response to any of those 6 emails. This is beyond horrible customer service. It's no service at all and with a company, the customer is king and is supposed to be important. Ha! It won't surprise me when Earthlink goes out of business.

I have also had bad experience with Earthlink after 18 years as a customer. Upsold a new modem I didn't need after my internet service quit intermittently.

Shortly after I got off the phone with Indian customer support, my old modem worked like a charm. Too late -- the new modem was already billed to my credit card.

A new issue is email in-box filling up every 3 days, and I am asked if I want to pay to add storage.

Earthlink is not the good company it was in 1999.

Two days ago I woke my desktop from sleep and had no internet. My modem lights would show my ethernet "off".

Then my modem was cycling through powering down and re-starting itself. For most of the next 24 hours I had just brief moments connected so that a few e-mails would load, then it would go down again. Several years ago, there were times when Earthlink DSL would be down for a couple of days and come back on its own. This time because of the modem symptoms I suspected my 8-yr-old modem was bad.

Customer support listened to me explain the situation and concurred that my modem was bad. Replacement would be $79.95 plus $19.95 shipping. (8 yrs ago there was no charge for a replacement modem.) Back in 2009 a rep spent lots of time on the phone trouble-shooting to verify that I needed a new modem. This time, no trouble-shooting at all, just saying it sounded like the modem had failed - buy a new one.

A couple hours after ordering the new modem, my modem worked just fine again, and no problems for the last 24 hours or so.

I wonder if they have a way of programming it to look like your modem is failing just to sell you a new one? If that could be proven, the situation is ripe for a class-action suit.
